Sense & Sensibility uses the Standard American measurements for women's pattern sizes, which are listed above. Standard pattern sizes do not in any way resemble the clothing sizes that you will find at your local ready-made clothing shop, so it is very, very important that you go from actual body measurements rather than what you believe is your "size."

If you find that you are between sizes, don't panic! Most people are. Sense & Sensibility patterns include information to link you to their own website, where there are instructions on adjusting patterns to fit your body precisely. Keep in mind that for Regency women's fashions, the bust measurement is the key one to consider.
