All About Canvas
You may choose between four different types of canvas for your tent!

Flame Retardant 10.38 oz. Army Duck
This canvas is treated to be flame retardant, water repellent, and mildew resistant, with a shrinkage factor of approximately 7%. It is very white and holds its colour extremely well. The flame retardancey is just that: a retardant! There's no such thing as a flameproof tent. This canvas will burn as long as a flame is touching it. It will not, however, support its own flame, so when the source is removed, the canvas will extinguish itself. Please exercise caution with any canvas when near fires, wood stoves, etc. This canvas meets California Fire Marshal's Code CPAI-84, the standard by which flame retardant treatments are measured. Check with your Attorney General's office for flame retardancy requirements on tents in your state or province. This canvas is also available in colours (see below).
Please note that flame retardance will diminish within a few years. How long it will last on your tent will vary with use, care, and exposure to elements.

Sunforger(R) 10.38 oz. Army Duck
Sunforger is a fantastic canvas, whose treatment combines water repellency, marine finishing, and boatshrunk application. The result is a strong but lightweight canvas that sheds water, resists mildew, nold, algae, and fungi, and has a smaller shrinkage factor than the regular Army Duck. Because it is a "Dry Application" finish, tents made of Sunforger are significantly lighter than tents made of other canvasses.

Flame Retardant Sunforger(R) 10.38 oz. Army Duck
This canvas has the same properties as Sunforger(R), but with a flame retardancy added. This canvas is lighter in weight than, and not as bright white as the Flame Retardant 10.38 oz. Army Duck, but is just as strong. It also breathes better and has a smaller shrinkage factor. The flame retardancey is just that: a retardant! There's no such thing as a flameproof tent. This canvas will burn as long as a flame is touching it. It will not, however, support its own flame, so when the source is removed, the canvas will extinguish itself. Flame Retardant Sunforger(R) 13 oz. Army Duck
This is the ultimate canvas! It's extra heavy duty canvas -- 25% heavier than the 10.38 oz Sunforger -- with the same superior fire retardant treatment . The result is what we call "super canvas" -- perfect for extra harsh climates, heavily used tents, and tents that last a long, long time. On average, 13 oz. Sunforger has 30% more tear strength than the 10.38 oz. version. This is truly the toughest canvas on the market! The flame retardancey is just that: a retardant! Canvas is Available in Colours!

Panther's Flame Retardant 10.38 oz. Army Duck Canvas is also available in black, blue, red, green, yellow, purple, and khaki -- and it's available both pre-made into our tents and by the yard so that you can make your own accessories. An approximation of these colours is shown below: please take this only as a general guide and not as specific colour swatches. The swatches shown below were scanned from the canvas, printed on paper, scanned once again, and are now being displayed on your screen, which may or may not be set to the same colour settings as our screen -- so chances of the original colour being exactly represented are, unfortunately, slim to nil.

Please note that only the Army Duck Canvas is available in colours: none of the Sunforger canvasses are available in colours.

Colour option tents are custom orders, so we'll need a sketch of what you'd like your tent to look like, as well as a minimum of a 50% deposit when your order is placed (the balance to be paid before the tent is shipped).

Pricing for the Colour Option is listed in a column in each kind of tent's price chart. The price is for either one solid colour or alternating strips of canvas approximately 33" wide. The colour option price is in addition to the price of the basic tent in flame retardant canvas. Please note that on rectangular marquees, alternating bands of colour will normally not come out even, like they do on some other tent styles. If you want a customized colour combination, we'll quote you a price based on the sketch that you send us.
