Military Wedges
(see below for additional wedge styles and sizes)

From the tiny Revolutionary War Private's Tent and the Civil War A-Frame to the French and Indian War 1750 Bell Back Wedge, Panther has 20 different historically correct military wedge tents. These tents come authentically made with no overlap facings and only one door; however, we strongly recommend the addition of overlap facings -- it's a whole lot of dryness for the minimal cost of $5.00!

You have your choice of grommets at the peaks of these wedge tents. All except Civil War tents come standard with handworked buttonholes at the peaks, but you may order brass grommets or no grommets at all, if you prefer. Civil War tents come standard with brass grommets at the peaks; however, you may order handworked buttonholes or no grommets on these tents, if you prefer.

All of the wedges except the Civil War Wedges come standard with rolled canvas peg loops at the bottom; Civil War tents come standard with brass grommets for pegs.

Several models of wedge tent are available with a bell back. These are semicircular additions to the back of the wedge, as shown in the third image above (painted seams, as shown in the picture, are an option and are available at an additional cost -- contact us for details). They are great for adding lots of storage space at very little cost! We recommend that you check with your unit commander before purchasing your tent to confirm that a bell back is suitable for your military impression. Please see the pricing table below for information on which models are available with a bell back.

Sod cloths (a 10" flap of canvas sewn to the bottom skirt of the tent, folding inwards to help keep out moisture, cold air, and dust, especially on uneven ground) may be purchased as an option on all models of wedge tents. Pricing is different for each model -- see the pricing table below for more information.

You may add an extra door to your wedge tent for the cost of $25.00; to make it an overlapped door (which we recommend), add an additional $5.00. This option not only allows you to open both ends of your tent at once for air flow on a hot day, but, with the use of two extra poles, it allows you to prop one side of your tent up to form a fly-like shelter. However, it should be noted at some military units do not accept this sort of tent alteration in their camps -- we therefore strongly recommend that you check with your unit commander before choosing this option.

Set up packages are available for all of Panther's tents, and they include all of the poles, pegs, and ropes (where applicable) that you will need to put up your tent. Pricing for these packages is different for each style of tent: see the pricing table below for details.

Standard Wedges
(see below for additional wedge styles and sizes)

Between about 1755 and 1860, the wedge tent, in its many forms and styles, was the single most common tent in North America. Probably the main reason for this popularity is its very basic and functional design. Simple to erect, it goes up in minutes and uses only three poles. Standard Wedges are not made to strict military sizing, but are otherwise historically correct for wedge tents of this period. They get our highest recommendation for a small family or a couple -- or for a small shopkeeper!

All of Panther's non-military Standard Wedges come with double doors (i.e. one door at each end) and overlaps. This not only allows you to open both ends of your tent at once for air flow on a hot day, but, with the use of two extra poles, it allows you to prop one side of your tent up to form a fly-like shelter. If you would prefer not to have the second door, we can certainly make you a one-door Standard Wedge.

Brass peak grommets are also standard of the Standard Wedges. You can, of course, request hand-sewn buttonholes or no grommets of you prefer.

Standard Bell Back Wedges
(see below for additional wedge styles and sizes)

The Standard Bell Back Wedges are designed for maximum headroom and usable space, while still keeping to only three poles plus stakes for setup. They do not come standard with a second door, but you may add a door for $25.00, or an overlapped door for $30.00.

The Standard Bell Wedge measures 8' tall by 10' wide by 11' 2" long, plus a 5' bell, for an overall length of 16' 2". This gives you approximately 150 square feet of floor space.

The Super Bell Wedge is even roomier at 8' tall, 12' wide, and 14' long, plus a 6' bell, for an overall length of 20'. This gives you approximately 225 square feet of floor space.

Brass peak grommets are also standard of the Standard Bell Back Wedges. You can, of course, request hand-sewn buttonholes or no grommets of you prefer.
